The Market Doesn’t Ration Health Care

Foundation for Economic Education » The Market Doesn’t Ration Health Care.  Another great article that explains the difference between the real free market and what is called the free market.  As the great ones have said–”the market is a process”.

With any sort of centralized planning, rationing will occur.  Just think of the breadlines in Soviet Russia and consider if you want Grandma and Grandpa standing in those breadlines for their heart medication…or their open-heart surgery…

It may be expensive now–due, of course, to government regulation–but at least I have the opportunity to give someone money to help them out.  When the government decides who should and shouldn’t get help, there’s nothing I can do…

For example, this young man has seen a huge outpouring of support by the folks in Wichita, due to his circumstances…which couldn’t really happen without the (admittedly broken) current system:

The law of unintended consequences will crush you if you don’t consider the ramifications of your actions…and this new “plan” is sounding more and more like what would happen if the government just wrote everyone in the US a $1 million check…
